Do pheromones have a smell? I thought they were "scentless."

Anyone who owns a bottle of Primal Instinct can tell you that if you get a good nose full of androstenone that it has a smell. It is a musky, male smell, that some customers have even described as "BO". Well, for better or worse, that is what pheromones smell like. The "scentless" claim just means that these two pheromones are very effective at levels undetectable with our normal smelling system. The magic mood-lift and attraction that users report comes as the result of the activation of a special set of organs in the nose, called the VNO (vomeronasal organs) not our normal sense of smell. So, the real pheromone effect happens subconsciously, and doesn't require that others get that musky smell. It's like the subliminal message on self-help tapes. The sound is there and you can hear it, but it slips in underneath other sounds on the tape. The pheromone smell is there, but you don't really notice it, because of other smells. That is why I recommend using a good cologne with unscented pheromone products like Primal Instinct. It blends with the strong male smell and makes it a little more digestible (approachable). Also, if you are wearing a sexy cologne, it will wake up the sense of smell of your target, he/she will intentionally make an effort to get a good whiff of you, and then the pheromones go to work. The fragrance works as a carrier for the pheromones. Many pheromone products have colognes mixed in with them already, which is good, but makes it impossible to change fragrances from day to day.


If you can't smell pheromones, how come people get asked: "What's that fragrance you are wearing?"

As for the "Wow, what's that fragrance you are wearing?" with pheromones, it is for real. It is the number one reaction that users report. Even if you are using an unscented pheromone and not wearing a cologne it will happen. What are they consciously smelling? Could be a lot of things, shampoo or conditioner fragrance, your deodorant, hand lotion, maybe a blend of them all. But why do they find that smell so interesting? Pheromones. You could do the same experiment with some music or a photo. Give someone a whiff of pheromones at the same time they hear some music or view a photo, and they will be more attracted to it. "Wow! Nice tune. What group is this?" or "Dude! Is this your girlfriend? What a babe!"


Can animals detect the smell of pheromones?

Animals have their own set of pheromones that rule their behavior to a large extent. They may be able to recognize humans as such via human pheromones. I don't know.


Do pheromones have any noticeable effect on children (i.e. making the parent more approachable by the child)?

Parents and children are linked very powerfully via special pheromones. I believe these are different from the pheromones that have been isolated by science for sexual attraction purposes.

I was looking through your research site, and I wonder if you could tell me what VNO stands for?

VNO stands for Vomeronasal Organs. They are 2 small sensory organs located in the nose that operate separately from the part of our nose that detect normal smells. the VNO is used by the body to detect pheromones only. Some say the VNO represents a 6th sense!


I assume the products featured on your page are not by the same manufacturer so I ask, what is the difference? Why is one solution so much more expensive than the others?

All the products on the love-scent.com site are reputable and you get more or less what you pay for. In the case of Primal Instinct though, which is very expensive, the high price is due to the extremely high pheromone content. It is not any more effective than say APC, which has the same TYPE of pheromone in it. It just lasts a very long time, since you only need to use 2 drops per application. The others have different pheromone mixtures and many have fragrance added. You could take a look at the "pheromone forum" (link on our main page) for some user stories. All our brands have big fans.

Be careful of bootleg products and websites. There are many phonies popping up. One has an address very similar to ours and looks almost the same. Watch out for that. All our pheromone products are the originals and carry a guarantee.


I wish to purchase primal but do not use credit cards, how may I order by snail mail? or by debit card from my account?

Hi Bruce, I had a question about mixing pheromone products. I am currently using APC, and I have noticed a change, but nothing major. I was wondering, how does a spray or two of an unscented pheromone spray along w/ a splash or two of APC sound? Will this combo be as effective as primal, or is primal still king?

Adding a couple sprays of Edge is great with APC. The APC has a strong fragrance which provides a good cover for the heavy Edge musky male smell. I get very good results with APC and Edge. Primal is a good product, but it doesn't have any pheromones that Edge doesn't have. It is just VERY concentrated, maybe 10 times the concentration of APC. All that means though is that you only need 2 drops to get the job done. It's mostly just a matter of mathematics and cost. Primal has 10 times the andro of APC per oz, but costs twice as much and comes in a 50% smaller bottle. So if you have your own colognes that you like and want to invest 70 bucks in an unscented 2 drop/application Androstenone only product than Primal is your product. I'd stick with what you have for now. Work on getting the ratio just right between the APC and the Edge. I put a dab of APC behind each ear and a couple light sprays of Edge on my collars.


How can I make the most of my pheromones?

Remember that pheromones are tools. It takes a little practice to learn to work with them. Be helpful and friendly. Be the "good guy". Pheromones give you an aura of power, but that can be scary for shy women if you look grumpy or like a "lone wolf". Always look for opportunities to be helpful and supportive to women, and let them know that their advances are welcome.


How do I choose a phermone product for women? Don't they all contain the same basic ingredients?

Various products do have different formulae with different pheromones in them. For women, New Pheromone Additive is probably the best product at the moment. You have to use your own fragrance with it. It is just pheromones in alcohol. Xcite! pheromone wipes have a LOT of women fans, but are a little expensive. Realm is a very fine perfume, with a lot of interesting ingredients I have heard, but again even more expensive. Depends on your budget. We have Lure for Her for sale too. It is very cheap, but I'm not sure how much pheromone is in there. I hear it smells nice and it has some big fans as well.


How do I know I am not getting ripped off by a pheromone company?

I don't think you will find any products with animal pheromones any more. There was a problem with that long ago, but no longer. Some companies still talk about that to scare customers into shopping at their site. I wouldn't worry about it. What you have to watch out for is bootleg websites that just take your money and send you bootleg versions of popular products, or don't send you any product at all. That is the big problem at the moment. Be careful. There are a number of sites that look just like ours, but have slightly different addresses. Similar to Love Scent but slightly different.


I have been victimized by one of the cheat love scent sites ([address deleted, but similar to love-scent.com]) !!! They charged me at $1479.00 !!! I don't know what to do. Please help me. How can I take my money back ? Please help.

You have definitely been hit by an illegal site. The address you mention "xciteusa@aol.com" is the address of a real-estate agent in Sarasota FL (USA), who wrote me some months ago pretending to be the representative of a UK company, selling Xcite Pheromone Wipes. He cheated me out of over $4,000. and copied the entire Love Scent website and made the bootleg site that you were hit by. This is against both US and international copyright laws and recent US "Cybersquatting" legislation, as well as criminal fraud for taking your money and refusing to send you the product you ordered.

If you paid via credit card, it is very easy to get your money back, though. Just telephone your charge card company and tell them you got hit by an internet scam artist. They will reverse the charge for you.

It would seem that in our world, you get what you pay for! I noticed that your product "Primal Instinct" has the most testimonies and was also the most expensive! I want the best as this is my style! Would you consider the Primal Instinct to be the best attracting product that you currently offer?

Primal clearly has the greatest concentration of androstenone available, about 10 times the number 2 product (APC), but there are other factors that sometimes make other products a better choice. Every product sold at love-scent.com has its loyal followers. Actually, the price of Primal is due to the extremely high pheromone content. You don't need that much at any one time. The manufacturer recommends only 2 drops per application, so a 10ml bottle lasts a LONG time.

APC has the exact same pheromone TYPE, but at 1/10 the concentration, so it's a matter of mathematics, isn't it? Also APC has a fragrance added, sort of a typical aftershave smell. I wear it sometimes, but not everyday. Primal can be used with your own cologne, which you can of course change from day to day.

Edge is the scientist's pheromone. It has the most interesting formula, but comes in a strong alcohol mix. It is best sprayed on clothing and you should use your own cologne with it. The spray bottle is handy, but a bit large maybe.

The Intimate Research colognes are the bargain basement brands, but even they have devoted fans, and you can easily unscrew the tops and add some New Pheromone Additive. I just got an e-mail from a guy in Australia who says "DateMate sucks and Yes rules them all." So, go figure. Everyone has his/her favorite.

I've heard that some products contain little, or no pheromones at all. Would you happen to know which these are? I don't want to buy them mistakenly.

Some are stronger than others, some have only androstenone while others have a blend, but all products on the love-scent.com site are good. Yes and Lure don't have as much pheromones as the other, but are still very popular.


Would putting pheromones on the clothes be more effective than placing them on the skin?

Both skin and clothing applications are effective in their own way. Due to body heat pheromones applied to the skin evaporate very fast putting them into "effect" very quickly. This may be what you want in some cases, but it also means the active ingredients get used up very quickly. In addtion, pheromones applied to the skin also get washed away by sweat and broken down by bacteria on the skin. Unscented spray products like Edge are easily applied to clothing. Just keep in mind that the "scent" will be on there for a LONG time, and may take serveral washings to come off completely. You may want to be careful of delicate fabric too.


What is the difference between androstenal and androstenone?

They are both testosterone-linked pheromones. Some people say that andorstenone is more "male", "macho" or "strong" than androstenol. Primal Instinct contains only androstenone, and is proud of the fact, while the product "Attraction" and most of the Stone Lab products contain both.


How long does it take to deliver your products?

I've seen a kind of pheromone that frighten away cats and I'd like to know if you have it or know somebody that sells it.

Probably such products exist, but we do not carry them, and I have no idea where you might find them. If you find them, let me know. Sounds interesting.


You say that Edge should be used with a cologne. Why is that? I'm hoping to see if this has any effect on my wife, before I tell her I'm using it (if I ever tell her). I am not in the habit of using cologne, except on rare social occasions, which means my wife is not accustomed to me using cologne and will wonder at the change. I was thinking a totally un-scented product (i.e. no detectable scent as in perfume) might be the best way. What do you think?

You can use the Edge on its own, but be careful. Start small and work up. When your wife gets a nose full of Edge she will have some sort of "reaction" there is not much doubt about that, but at first she may be resistant to the stuff. There are people who write in to say Edge smells like BO, and the same goes for Primal too. Sad but true but many women are put off by "male smell" and you have to "sneak it in under their radar". That's why I say use cologne. I am just being cautious, because we live in a BO paranoid society, especially in the US. In France, elsewhere in Europe and South America young people love to get a whiff of their mate. When I lived in Germany, I had a girlfriend who used to bury her nose in my armpit when we snuggled. I thought it was weird at the time, but now I know better. Japanese people (where I live now) are also very paranoid about body oder. So, what I'm saying is... just keep that in mind, it is your only potential obstacle with straight Edge/no cologne. Otherwise, you could spray it right on your arm pits and get great results, I am quite sure. As an example, there was a survey here in Japan recently regarding body smells that hit all the papers and something like 43% of the women polled complained that their spouse had BO, and that is in the land of bathe 'til you drop! So, go figure, but that is what you may be up against. Also, marriage is a complex issue and there are lots of factors. It takes a while to make changes and smell is not as big a factor as it is with a woman you bump into at the supermarket.


You always say pheromones work better on people you don't know. Why is that?

For better or worse, we are always trying to catagorize everything we run into. It is the only way we can get through our day. Every time we meet someone new, we start analyzing them. We size them up and put them in a compartment they seem to fit in. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the world of dating. If we are looking for a mate, the radar is up and running when we are out in the world, and the folks we run into drop one by one into slots we think they fit into. Once someone gets you in one of these pidgeon holes, it is hard to get out. It can be done, but it is not easy. If you have been in the same "file-folder" for the last 30 years, don't expect to get out in 3 days.


Are Andro PC and Primal Instinct scented?

APC is very much so. Primal is not, but like the Edge has a musky/male/body smell. Not everyone can smell it, but it is there if you get close enough. Primal only takes a couple of drops, though, and at normal levels is not very easy to detect by others. If you are wearing a colgne, no one will know you are using pheromones.


Which of your brands is the strongest?

Primal Instinct is the single strongest pheromone product on the market, but contains only androstenone. Andro 4.2 is similar to Primal, but a spray product. Attraction is the strongest that contains both androstenone and androstenol. The Edge is also very concentrated, but the exact pheromone blend has not been disclosed.


How long does each product (Lure, Primal ...) last on the human body before reapplication.

If you apply them to the body, usually most is washed away or broken down in about 4 hours, but it depends VERY MUCH on body heat and sweating, so in the winter on your wrists the scent might last much longer, and if it gets onto your clothing, it will last for days or weeks! The Edge can be applied to clothing directly and will last for weeks.

There's an alternative product I've heard of: Pheromol Factor, allegedly developed by Dr. George Dodd himself and said to contain pheromones. Is this really an effective product? Does it work? I don't see it mentioned in your site.

Pheromol Factor is, in fact, created by Dr. Dodd, as are the Xcite Pheromone Wipes. I had a hard time locating these products, but finally managed it. As of this writing, the wipes are in stock, and Pheromol Factor is on the way. The wipes are a little expensive per use, but seem to be very effective, judging from the response from users.


Do you yourself honestly believe pheromone spiked colognes work?

Yes definitely.


Just what kind of expectations should I have (realisticaly) using Primal? Will this be picked up in a night club setting, or should I reserve it for more close encounters? What would be a good Primal use stragety and what can I expect from the stuff?

You can expect a lot from your Primal, it just takes a little while to get good at "using" them. Some companies say you begin to see results slowly over time. I think that may be true, but the reason is that pheromones are more of a tool than a magic wand. You have to learn to work with them. What you have there is a top of the line tennis racket. It takes practice to make the most of it.

**TIPS: First of all keep in mind what a high end andro product like Primal does. It makes you more attractive in a male sort of a way, more manly, studly or whatever. That is a good thing for attracting most women, but keep in mind that you have to BE APPROACHABLE. You have to look friendly. You have to temper the stud thing with Mr. helpful and friendly. Primal makes you seem more powerful but I can tell you from experience that women have to get the feeling that you are going to use that power to protect them and not control or exploit them. Weak and helpful is a loser, but tough and mean also loses. If you walk into a convenience store looking like Clint Eastwood, you aren't going to get anybody approaching you.

Clubs are OK, but you need to apply more. If you are good at clubs, Primal will help I'm sure, but it's not the best place to test-drive pheromones. If you want to see some quick results, put on a couple of drops and then walk around in the supermarket or bookstore where women are hanging out. Try some smiles and friendly conversation.
